HP (Lefthand Networks)
The Industry’s First Open Storage Software and Virtual SAN Platform
HP (LeftHand Networks) iSCSI-SAN solution addresses the need of storage consolidation and expansion, backup and disaster recovery. Typically saving customers 30 to 50% over Fibre Channel SAN solutions. The HP (LeftHand Networks) SAN solution consists of hardware, software and support. The hardware used in the SAN is based on industry standard x86 server modules that connect directly to the Ethernet infrastructure that is already in place. The SAN software includes many unique and exciting enterprise-class features at no extra cost including clustering and virtualization that allows you to combine multiple modules together to create one large storage pool that can then be partitioned into multiple volumes to be accessed by various servers.
Key Benefits
HP (LeftHand Networks) has combined breakthrough simplicity with advanced features previously available only in high-end storage solutions.
Storage Clustering: SAN/iQ software provides advanced clustering capabilities, consolidating individual physical storage nodes into virtual pools of storage. Capacity, processing power, and bandwidth are included in every node, ensuring an increase in SAN performance as you scale capacity.
Remote Copy Asynchronous Replication: Remote Copy combines the power of Snapshot with asynchronous data replication between volumes. Like snapshots, remote copies can be created manually ad-hoc, scheduled or scripted. Once the initial copy is completed, only the snapshot changes over time are synced to the remote volume, greatly speeding up data transfer.
Self-Healing Storage: SAN/iQ software scrubs every data block on the storage server at least once per month to reduce the risk of persistent read errors. During these scheduled scrubs, if a data block cannot be read, Network RAID retrieves a copy from the SAN and repairs the data block on the storage server.
